The Bercher Family

Franz Michael Bercher was a descendant of a family whose history can be traced back to 1457 and who came to the Kaiserstuhl region from Switzerland after the Thirty Years’ War. In 1756, he built the manor house with its cross-vaulted cellar in the centre of the small town of Burkheim, where our wines still mature today, a good 250 years later.

We, Arne and Martin Bercher, are now the tenth generation to run the winery. We are fortunate to be able to grow and produce our wines in the heart of the Kaiserstuhl’s cultural landscape. This origin is reflected in the wines – they are influenced by the soil and bear our very personal signature.
