Burkheimer Feuerberg
Burkheim Feuerberg
Between 16 and 18 million years ago, magma pushed through the thin crust at the intersection of the Upper Rhine Graben and the Bonndorf Graben, piling up to form an imposing mountain range, which was subsequently reduced to its current size by erosion. Seen in this light, the Burkheim Feuerberg (Fire Mountain) is aptly named. In fact, the volcanic character of the Kaiserstuhl is particularly pronounced here. It gives the wines an impressive structure and a sublime, yet always noticeable minerality, as well as a pronounced length on the palate.
